Bow Valley WildSmart Speakers Series

Bow Valley WildSmart started in 2005 with the intent to reduce negative human-wildlife interactions through education and outreach programs. Image

The Speakers Series was developed to give Bow Valley residents an opportunity to hear about the work and research of local wildlife managers and the wildlife they study or manage.

The Festival of Eagles
In October of each year, the ancient southward journey of nature's magnificent Golden Eagle begins, thousands of feet above Kananaskis Country.

The Festival of Eagles is a weekend of eagle celebrations including guided hikes, bird walks, interpretive displays, theatrical performances and guests speakers.

Friends of Kananaskis Open Houses

In November 2005, The Friends of Kananaskis Country hosted its first ever open house at the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park Visitor Centre. The event was a huge success with over 150 people in attendance.

On December 3rd, 2006 Friends of Kananaskis celebrated another Open House at the Peter Lougheed Visitor Information Centre on . More than 150 "friends" participted in a wildlife tracking workshop, guided hikes, an interpretive theatre show and a presentation about the Family Bear Trap by Peter Lougheed District Conservation Officer, Dave Hanna.
