The Friends of Kananaskis Country Cooperating Association was incorporated as a not-for-profit and registered charity in 1996. Working in partnership with Alberta Tourism, Parks, Recreation and Culture, we are interested citizens cooperating for the benefit of Kananaskis Country and its visitors.
Our mission is to take a leadership role in the preservation of the ecological integrity of Kananaskis Country, through educational programming, increased public awareness and leading by example. We are governed by a volunteer board of directors with a diversity of backgrounds and skills. All have a passion for Kananaskis Country. They ensure that everyone of our programs and projects center around the concepts of: Education, Participation, and Protection.
We do this by enhancing the goals and program objectives of environmental education and interpretation. We also take an active role volunteering to assist in the construction and maintenance of the extensive trail system throughout Kananaskis Country. We fund various projects identified to us through a "Call for Proposals".
These projects range from building bridges across sensitive water ways to producing educational resources, such as DVDs, CDs and specialized learning kits. We currently have a membership of approximately 600 members and volunteers.
Everyone is welcome to join.
